HTML-Kit Tools for windows causing Windows XP MCE to crash - Blue screen

HTML-Kit tools for Windows is coincidentally or the main cause of a constant crash and failure of Windows XP Media Center (Professional). I previously blamed and even uninstalled Apple Safari Web browser for Windows because the problem started occurring soon after I downloaded and installed the beta test version of this web browser.

    How does this happen?

When HTML-Kit tools for windows remains open for some time and probably closes its connection the file-system and FTP, a new request that triggers a refresh sometimes causes Windows XP MCE to crash and the computer to start spontaneously.

Initially, I suspected that Apple Safari was causing this problem, but after uninstalling Apple Safari and using the Windows XP system restore feature to make sure that all the system and application files were back to the way they were pre-Safari, the problem was still occurring. I have made attempts to report this issue to the Chami HTML-Kit development team (who have otherwise been very responsive during the Alpha development of this application), but they cannot reproduce the issues, and can therefore not fix it.

Unfortunately, I went through a similar experience when I previously reported that HTML-Kit was refusing to open some file formats such as *.xml and *.php.

To really isolate the problem-causing application, I decided to stop using HTML-Kit for 10 days and see if the problem would happens (it did not). I have now started using HTML-Kit tools for Windows, again, and the problem has happened three times in the last few days.

Below is a log of the communication in an attempt to get to the bottom of this issue:

Thank you for sending your feedback Please let me know what you find out.

I acknowledge the technical insight on the reported issue. However, there is a strong relationship between Hkit tools and the crash because for the last 10 days, I have seen using the classic HTML-Kit 292 application in place of Hkit tools for Windows, and my PC has not crashed one time. I am going to start using the latest version of Hkit tools today and see if the frequency of the problem returns. FYI: I am using an HP laptop whose hardware configuration has not changed since I bought it last year, hence my conviction that the problem is entirely software related.

This issue could not be reproduced. I'm afraid KMODE exceptions are rarely caused by regular applications so most likely there's some other system issue. The problem I reported earlier and I have been able to obtain the error log from Windows.

You received this message because a device driver installed on your computer caused the Windows operating system to stop unexpectedly. This type of error is referred to as a "stop error." A stop error requires you to restart your computer.

If I let HKit tools site unused for some time, the next time that I try o open and FTP folder (I think when I trigger a refresh), it causes Windows to crash with the dreaded blue screen. It restarts immediately (3 seconds) and so I do not have time to tell you the error message Status: Closed
